Title: HIV research prevention highlights

Overview: At this press conference, important new data will be released on “treatment as prevention,” PrEP, and HIV vaccine development.
- First results from PARTNER2 – a follow-up to the landmark PARTNER study – with new evidence on the effectiveness of “treatment as prevention” in gay men
- Data from the ANRS PREVENIR study of “PrEP on demand,” a follow-up to the IPERGAY study
- New research on the possibility that feminizing hormone therapy may affect the efficacy of PrEP in transgender women
- Progress in the development of “digital PrEP,” which would provide a new way to monitor PrEP adherence precisely and in real time
- The first long-term results from APPROACH, a major HIV vaccine study evaluating the safety and immunogenicity of multiple regimens

Overview:This press conference will feature HIV treatment and cure research highlights, including several new studies involving the drug dolutegravir.
- Detailed safety and efficacy data from the GEMINI studies of an experimental two-drug treatment for HIV (dolutegravir + lamivudine)
- Results from a “real world” cohort study in Brazil looking at the comparative effectiveness of a three-drug, DTG-based regimen – tenofovir plus lamivudine plus dolutegravir (TDF+3TC+DTG)
- Latest data on the possibility that dolutegravir-based HIV treatment may be linked to birth defects
- Results from RIVER, the first randomized controlled trial of a “kick and kill” approach to attacking HIV reservoirs
